The Difficult Sequel

Blog number 2..or as some people would say. The difficult sequel.

Been keeping an eye on upcoming film details as of late, that and watching a lot of new movies too.

What strikes me first is how Hollywood seems to be running on leftovers right now, all I read about is remakes, sequels, and reboots? don’t get me wrong; as a massive movie fan some of the ideas and projects in production do tickle my fancy ( Superman, x men, Robocop ) but my question is where has all the original ideas gone?
Now I know that there are fantastic original movies coming out on a month to month basis, and with the awards hype a good few of them are being highlighted to the public , But where has the original Hollywood blockbuster gone? Has that idea died and are we now doomed only to remember the mediocre?
My memory’s of childhood cinema are those of Jaws, A New Hope, The exorcist, Aliens, Superman and the list goes on , all of which had ideas based in originality, and all brought something never before seen to the Big screen ( a man who could fly, The Texas chain saw massacre in space, a child who’s head would swivel 360 and then spew bile into its mothers face! ) All groundbreaking and box-office breaking.
Has it got to the point where the original idea has been used? Has the film industry over the last 40 years tapped out the veins of creative thinking, or simply has the bubble finally burst on Hollywood

Or maybe is it that the art form in a good screen play in Hollywood now is to re-imagine an old idea? Lets be honest, Chris Nolan and James Cameron seem to have built careers on this principal!

Introduction of sorts

So my first blog!….how exciting.

First off, this sudden urge to write all my stupid thoughts and ramblings is due to my wonderful Partner for whom has always said I should put them to pen and paper, next best thing aye!

I shall mainly be writing about Music, Film, and on the odd occasion TV. But that’s not to say I wont rant about everyday life and all the angers and delights me.
I should point out that my wonderful partner has a blog of her very own (http://katslimbo.blogspot.com) and is very gifted when it comes to writing all things her life, I on the other hand do not quite have a the gift she seems too, so please bare with me when it comes to spelling, grammar ect.

So lets get started. My names Ant or Antony, I’m a 30 something chef from the south east of England ( the only part of the country that hasn’t had any bloody snow yet!) and as I stated above am in a long term relationship with a beautiful lady.
I have loved music since a very young age growing up on Queen, Depeche Mode, Aerosmith and many other wonderful bands. My love for food started when I first watched Gary Rhodes present some god awful food show on bbc3, no matter what people think of the man, he really loved everything he was doing, and started the tv chef stardom freight train, so yeah he is to blame for Gordon Ramsey!
Film I have always thought is such a great way to escape life’s downbeat and sometimes god awful grind, many a long and stressful night at work has ended with me coming home and sticking on Almost famous or The evil dead 2( insert cool Ash quote here) and falling asleep with a smile on my face forgetting the awful day that had just passed.
So if any of the above you can relate to them please come back and leave a comment, or even follow me J
So until next time I shall bid you farewell
